For more than 60 years, the Benson family has been affiliated with Allstate. My grandfather Ben was among the first 20 Allstate agents in Michigan, starting in 1954. Larry, my father, started in a Sears store and was an agent for 40 years. He still works with me in our Royal Oak insurance agency.


So joining Allstate is my legacy. I had a choice, for sure, but from early on it was made clear that our calling was to inform people on protection that is available to them, and do everything in our power to help see they prepare for the worst. I love being able to set people at ease and let them know I’ll do the worrying for them.


The dynamic in Royal Oak is fascinating. There are so many residents who have been here for decades and love the parks, schools and beautiful infrastructure, and yet in the last few years a number of young families have come into the city and are building homes, improving businesses and making a great city shine even brighter.



I get involved with the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce and the hugely popular Arts, Beats & Eats festival every summer. I also donate to local softball teams and charity events around Royal Oak.

It started well, but then not so well with a problem with a health insurance letter. I sent proof of our health coverage and asked Andy to call back with no call. I then left 3 emails or phone messages for Jennifer to call me and never received a call. It was like I received a low quote with the idea that it was going to be raised up because of this mystery form. Needless to say I did not think it was good customer service to not return calls.
