I moved to Syracuse from Iowa in 1971. From a kid’s perspective, the biggest difference was being able to sled almost anywhere compared to the Iowa plains. The sled run at Thornden Park Water Tower was the best! Now that I’ve lived most of my life on “the Hill”, I enjoy that this is an action-packed city with compassionate people. The complete revitalization of downtown, especially Armory Square has been an amazing journey for all of us in central New York.
My wife, Amy, and I love it here. Our favorite local places include The New York State Fair, Museum of Science & Technology (MOST), Rosamond Gifford Zoo, the Landmark Theatre and, of course, sporting events in the Carrier Dome. When we’re not busy cheering on the Syracuse University teams, our hobbies include long distance bicycling on the Erie Canal, sailing on Lake Ontario, jazz night at the Hotel Syracuse and day trips though the Finger Lakes.
I started my career in insurance on an internship while I was attending Syracuse University in 1983. After 26 years in financial services and insurance, I took over an Allstate agency in 2009 that has served multiple generations in our community and grown relationships with customers that have been with Allstate for over 50 years!
