Patti Coffelt

Customer Account Representative
It took Patti Coffelt less than a year to realize she wasn’t ready for retirement.

She originally retired in November 2013 after nearly 30 years working in testing labs, holding numerous positions throughout her career. Less than a year into retirement, however, she had to find a job.

“I got bored. I wasn’t good at being retired. There are only so many cookies I can bake and I got tired of hanging around the house.”

That revelation occurred around the same time Patti and her husband, as customers of Jim Boldt & Associates, were getting a policy review. Through their conversation, Jim and Patti discovered they could help each other. Jim needed an office manager to schedule appointments and take care of administrative work, and Patti desired a little more structure in her retired life.

“Not a lot of structure, just more than I had before I started working here.” Working three days a week in the office, she said, provides “a good balance.”

The part-time position leaves plenty of time to enjoy retirement activities with her husband. They often explore the Kansas City area and are currently on a quest to visit all of the city’s world-renowned fountains.

Patti also developed a passion for playing pickleball, and she spends a considerable amount of time with her two children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom live in the area.

Says Jim: “Patti has been such a blessing to this team. The customers love talking to her, she does a lot of mentoring to the younger agents, and it’s amazing how much she gets done for me working three days a week. This office couldn’t operate without her organizational and people skills.”

Bob Westerfelt

Customer Service Manager
Bob has worked in insurance and financial services for more than 25 years as an account manager, trainer, and sales manager.

Bob and Jim met when they worked together at the corporate office for Aviva USA for three years. They maintained a strong relationship after Jim started his agency in 2009.

Following the sale of Aviva USA in 2013, Bob found himself needing a job. At the same time, he also wanted to dedicate as much time as possible to caring for his aging father. Jim stepped in to offer Bob a part-time customer support role that enables Bob to work from the home in Muscatine, Iowa that he shares with his father.

“Jim is a great person to work for. Not many business owners would accommodate my family needs, but with Jim, family always comes first. I’m happy to still be working in the insurance business helping people with their policy needs.”

Bob handles a number of responsibilities, including helping customers with policy questions, handling billing inquiries, and researching coverage options for customers.

Says Jim: “At some point, most customers have probably talked to Bob on the phone and I always know they’re in good hands. Bob is one of the smartest people I’ve ever met and knows as much about insurance as anybody. Yet he’s very friendly, patient, and will stay on the phone until your questions have been answered.”

Jessica Kramer

Customer Account Representative
Jessica Kramer rarely shies away from an opportunity.

Needing a full-time job after graduating from Paola High School in 2014, Jessica heard from a friend that a local insurance agent needed help answering phone calls and doing some administrative work. She applied and, even with no insurance background or knowledge, Jim Boldt hired her on the spot.

Three years later, when Jim needed another licensed insurance agent on his staff to help expand the customer base, Jessica stepped up again. She studied for her licensing exam and became a fully licensed agent in January 2017.

“When I started here, I didn’t know what a quote was. I knew nothing about insurance. After being in it a short time, I really started to enjoy the business and the customer interactions.”

Today, even though she’s still learning about the business, Jessica is always ready to help Allstates new and existing customers with insurance quotes and service needs. Just a few years removed from high school, Jessica is establishing a career in insurance and showing her peers that young people can be successful in the business.

When she’s not working, she enjoys traveling, fishing, hanging out with her two dogs, and watching the Chiefs, Royals, and Jayhawks.

Says Jim: “The way she’s learned the business and stuck with it for over four years shows me she’s dedicated. She has a bright future in this business and I’m proud to watch her grow as both an insurance agent and as a person."

Rebecca Carney

Rebecca Carney joined the Jim Boldt Agency in July 2019. Prior to joining the agency, Rebecca worked in customer service for a high-end jewelry company. She’s also worked in property management and as a transportation manager. Rebecca has recently earned her Insurance license and is now a licensed Insurance Agent.

She quit her previous job to spend more time with her husband and three daughters. She met Jim through church and he offered her the opportunity to work part-time in the mornings. What I like about working for The Jim Boldt Agency is the team of people I work with and Jim’s dedication to customers.

For the Jim Boldt Agency, Rebecca does “a little of everything,” including administrative assistant, human resources, payroll and office management.

“She’s a valuable asset to our agency and very customer-focused,” said Jim.

In her spare time, Rebecca spends time with her family hanging out at the pool, parks, going on bike rides, traveling and exploring new towns and different parts of KC, cooking with her daughters, especially baking, or just on the couch watching movies.

In the last few years, her family began a mission to visit every Major League Baseball stadium. As of the summer of 2019, they have visited eight, including Fenway Park, where they sat behind the left-field on the Green Monster. They’ve also been to Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs; Kauffman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals; and Miller Park, home of the Milwaukee Brewers.
