When I was a teenager, I dreamed of being an Allstate agent. My uncle, who is an agent, is my idol, and I wanted to follow in his footsteps. Six months after high school graduation, I put on my best polyester suit for an interview — and had my dream crushed when the agent told me I needed more education.


I have no idea who that agent was, but he changed my life. I went to college, studied music and was part of a band that recorded a record that made the Billboard chart. I even went on tour, experiencing life as a pseudo superstar. Later, at the University of Texas at Arlington, I became a broadcast major. I spent my entire 35-year career in broadcasting in Dallas — and purchased my own Allstate agency in 2015 after taking an early retirement.


I’ve always enjoyed getting to know people, and being an Allstate agent allows me not only to make connections with customers, but also to assist them as they make decisions that help protect what matters most. I also love helping the community through my work with Mt. Olive Church, the United Way and Habitat for Humanity. Three causes are especially dear — Autism Speaks, because my nephew has autism, the American Cancer Society, because my dad died from cancer, and Youth in View, a placement agency for foster children operated by my sister.


I was born in Dallas and came back to live here in 1978. My wife of 30 years, Sandra, and I have two daughters, Brieanna and Brittany. Some of our favorite spots in Dallas are Reunion Tower, AT&T Stadium and Klyde Warren Park.
