I grew up just outside of Memphis. This is a hot spot for musicians. Feel free to ask me what famous musician was a family friend and loved my mom’s friend bologna sandwiches.
In 1967, I married the love of my life, Cheryl, and then we moved to Covington in 1972. We have three children – Amy Cuevas, who works with me as a Licensed Sales Producer and Office Manager; Andrew Farris, who lives and works in New Orleans; and Amanda Farris, who is a St. Tammany Parish kindergarten teacher in Mandeville. I also have two grandchildren, and I love spending time with them. When I’m not in the agency, I enjoy a variety of activities. I like to fish and duck hunt at Lake Pontchartrain and watch college football, particularly Louisiana State University and Alabama. I also have a country house in Mississippi where I can enjoy some peaceful rural living. I stay active and enjoy building things and working in the yard.
I was a founding member and past president of Mandeville's only men's Mardi Gras organization -- the Original Krewe of Orpheus. I spent years as a board member and organizing the Krewe's parade. Each fall I sponsor football programs at St. Paul's Catholic High School, Covington High School, Archbishop Hannan High School, Franklinton High School and Lakeshore High School. Each year I sponsor Pontchartrain Elementary School's Fall Gala and Spring Fling fundraising events. I have also been a sponsor of Fontainebleau High School's baseball program. When my children were growing up in Mandeville, my wife and I supported started the Quarterback Club at Mandeville High School and were actively involved in Fourth Ward Recreation, which was the predecessor of what is now Pelican Park Recreation District in Mandeville.
My brother, Steve, is the reason why I became an Allstate agency owner. He was an agency owner first and liked it, so I also decided to try it. At one time there were three Farris brothers who were Allstate agency owners in Slidell, Covington and Hammond. It was also a great opportunity to combine my loves of working with people and business. I enjoy getting to know customers, helping people understand insurance and review their coverage decisions.
